Karen Astley-Moore, RN, OCN, CMCN: Principal Strategic Consulting Concepts

 

Karen has over 28 years of experience in the oncology healthcare environment, including 16 years as a practicing certified oncology nurse and 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Her uniquely diverse background provides Karen with the ability to understand the needs of the manufacturer, physician, patient, and payer which results in optimal strategic positioning and reimbursement of novel products.

During her leadership role at Bristol Myers, Karen was responsible for Phase IV Clinical Trial development and management. At Ell Lilly and Company, she provided reimbursement assistance and payer management of products, in addition to developing the payer marketing strategy for new oncology products in development.

Karen's oncology clinical expertise includes direct patient management, as well as management of hospital outpatient and private practice budgets, including drug purchasing. She was also responsible for recruitment and management of clinical trials, oncology case management of patients through ongoing interaction with various payers, and development and coordination of a multidisciplinary lung cancer program.

Utilizing this expertise, Karen manages services to help clients build new product strategies, such as:

  • Clinical trial design
  • In-licensing analyses
  • Payer-specific positioning strategies

Karen has extensive experience as a national speaker for numerous biopharmaceutical companies and served as Past President and Director-at-Large for the South Jersey Oncology Nursing Society. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rhode Island College and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, Association of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the American Association of Managed Care Nurses.
